Boston - (May 2, 2017) As other healthcare issues ebb and flow with political partisanship counterpoint and competing legislation, one thing remains a constant in healthcare. Patients continue to demand an improved experience and their assessments now matter more than ever... But what exactly is the definition of the patient experience? Leading healthcare practitioners and administrators met in Boston at the Revere Hotel, April 30 - May 2, for two and a half days of keynotes, seminars and workshops centering on this topic. This was the inaugural Patient Experience Symposium produced by ICDevents.

Driven by the rising patient share of health care costs as well as a new assertive activism by patients, hospitals and clinics are discovering that there is a new sheriff in town. Even as care providing organizations and their professionals reflect on how to adjust to the new power the resides in the hands of the patient, a program of diverse speakers held the audiences' captive attention with account of the best practices and tools to overcome systematic obstacles in a healthcare system resistant to change for so long.

Chris Jones of Strategic Resilience Group, LLC commented, "I came to hear more about the new thinking on patient experience that is simulated by firms like Planetree International in this evolving space. Our company was formed by former military veterans who care greatly for injured colleagues on the battlefield and now want to apply the same methods in private society to those who find themselves in the vulnerable position of 'patient,' in an acute care provider setting. As we heard from the Symposium presenters, care providers and their organizations have to up their game to meet new and informed patient expectations. We look forward to helping our clients take these ideas, along with our proven approach to building resilient organizations and implementing them to improve their patients' experiences."

Miriam Johnson, Conference Delegate and Director of Patient Experience for Montefiore Healthcare, Mt. Vernon, NY noted, "I highly recommend The Patient Experience Symposium. The stellar speaker lineup drove home the importance of Patient and Family Engagement; I have since come back to my organization and shared important take-aways to implement. I also had the opportunity to meet some of the industry's most innovative vendors who showcased some impactful products that I can't wait to bring on board. I am very much looking forward to attending next year."

David Daum, Event Sponsor and Exhibitor, Northeast and Canadian Regional Sales Manager for West-Com Nurse Call Systems noted, "They key to this conference as a vendor was that it was almost exclusively the high-level contacts in hospitals, the people who are decision makers and who we want to meet. So often we attend tradeshows and conferences, and we talk to people interested in the product we represent, only to find out later that they have no decision-making ability. The attendees at this conference were mainly C or Director Level, all with the power to decide on implementing our products in their healthcare setting. From a conference content standpoint, we heard nothing but positive feedback from the attendees. We will absolutely participate again next year.
