Position Responsibilities
•Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services across a broad range of surgical specialties
•Evaluate patients preoperatively and document the immediate anesthesia assessment in CPRS
•Provide anesthesia for procedures involving:
oCardiac surgery
oOrthopedic joint replacement
oMajor vascular surgery
oThoracic surgery
oNeurosurgery
oPlastic surgery
oENT
oUrology
oOphthalmology
oGeneral surgery
oGynecology
oPodiatry
oDental procedures
•Provide anesthesia support for:
oElectroconvulsive therapy
oCardiac catheterization procedures
oElectrophysiology
oGastrointestinal procedures
oRadiology procedures
•Provide coverage as needed for:
oSurgical ICU
oShort-stay unit
oAcute pain management
oDiagnostic transesophageal echocardiography
oEmergency airway management
•Perform bedside consultations and e-consults as applicable
•Complete postoperative documentation in CPRS
•Maintain accurate anesthesia documentation in the electronic ARK – Anesthesia Record Keeper
•Follow all medication, patient safety, infection-control, and documentation requirements
•Participate in required quality improvement, peer review, OPPE/FPPE, staff meetings, and VA training
Required Qualifications
· MD or DO
· Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
· American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) Board Certification or Board Eligibility under the general qualification section
· Current BLS
· Current ACLS
· Current DEA
· NPI
· Current CME necessary to maintain applicable credentials and privileges
· Ability to obtain and maintain VA credentialing and privileging
· Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
