Board Certified / Board Eligible Urology Physician
We are seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Urology Physician to provide onsite urological care in support of the Fargo VA Health Care System. This role delivers direct patient care to U.S. Veterans in a well-resourced federal medical center with predictable hours, no call responsibilities, and a strong clinical support environment.
You will function as an independent, fully privileged provider delivering comprehensive urology services in both clinic and surgical settings, aligned with VA clinical standards and national best practices
Fargo, ND (Onsite at Fargo VA Medical Center)
What You’ll Do
You will provide comprehensive urology services consistent with a state-of-the-art civilian medical facility, including:
- Deliver outpatient urology care in clinic settings during normal VA clinic hours
- Perform inpatient urology consults and hospital rounds as required
- Conduct urological procedures including (but not limited to):
- Cystoscopies
- Vasectomies
- Scrotal surgeries
- Ureteroscopies
- Transurethral surgeries for prostate disease and bladder cancer
- Perform major urological procedures involving:
- Kidney, bladder, prostate, ureter, urethra, testes, scrotum, epididymis, and spermatic cord
- Utilize advanced urology technologies including:
- Holmium laser
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)
- Fluoroscopy
- Document all care in the VA electronic health record (EHR) system in accordance with VA policy
- Communicate test results to patients and providers within VA-mandated timelines
- Participate in Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement (QA/QI) activities and peer reviews
- Comply with all VA patient safety, privacy, infection control, and clinical practice standards
Candidates must meet all of the following:
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Urology residency, including 3 years devoted to urological surgery
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU)
- Current, full and unrestricted U.S. medical license (any U.S. state, territory, or DC)
- North Dakota license preferred but not required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (or equivalent)
- Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging, including successful review by the Medical Executive Board
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
- Ability to work onsite daily at the Fargo VA Medical Center
- Robotics-trained urology experience (preferred, not required)
- North Dakota medical license
- North Dakota DEA registration (preferred, not required)
