Position Responsibilities
Provide perfusion services supporting Cardiothoracic surgery cases (bypass, valve replacement, etc.).
Prepare, operate, and maintain VA-owned equipment (heart-lung machine, intra-aortic balloon pump, centrifugal ventricular assist device; autotransfusion pump support as applicable).
Support emergent needs: be available on-call and able to arrive on-site within 30 minutes when medically indicated.
Document care per VA policies in the VA electronic health record, and comply with privacy/security requirements and annual mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications (contract-traceable)
•Full and unrestricted license (any US state/territory/DC).
•ABCP certification (American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion).
•Graduate of an accredited perfusion technology program.
•Minimum 10 years experience (as stated in qualifications) and minimum 1,000 clinical cases.
•Experience demonstrated in: open heart surgery, autotransfusion, heart lung machine, membrane oxygenation, L/R heart bypass, IABP, and centrifugal VAD.
•English fluency (speak/read/write).
