Breast Radiologist, MD (Physician – Breast Radiologist)

To support the Atlanta VA Medical Center’s Breast Imaging program, this role provides onsite, full-time breast radiology physician services focused on diagnostic accuracy, patient safety, and compliance with American College of Radiology (ACR) standards. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team supporting Veteran patients in a high-volume, accredited imaging environment.
Position Responsibilities
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
•Interpret breast imaging studies, including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI
•Read and evaluate diagnostic mammograms and imaging exams
•Perform and oversee breast diagnostic procedures and image-guided evaluations
•Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, and referring providers on patient care
•Provide clinical consultations and communicate diagnostic findings clearly
•Ensure compliance with ACR, FDA, MQSA, and VA imaging quality standards
•Oversee daily compliance of the Mammography Program
•Document all care and findings in the VA Electronic Health Record (EHR)
•Participate in peer reviews, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities
•Attend required service leadership and quality meetings
•Complete all VA-mandated annual training and credentialing requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Contract-Required)
•MD or DO
•Board Certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
•Current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or DC
•Specialized experience in Breast Imaging / Breast Radiology
•Eligible for VA credentialing and privileging
•Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
•National Provider Identifier (NPI)
•Current DEA registration
•Ability to work onsite at the Atlanta VAMC locations listed above
