Certified Autotransfusionist

SRG is seeking a Certified Autotransfusionist to support surgical and perioperative services by operating cell saver and autotransfusion equipment to collect, process, and reinfuse a patient’s own blood during procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with clinical protocols, maintain equipment readiness, document all activities in accordance with regulatory standards, and collaborate closely with anesthesia and surgical teams to promote patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Position Responsibilities
Check OR schedule daily for procedures requiring autotransfusion services.
Set up and operate autotransfusion pump for surgical procedures (including non-open heart cases).
Coordinate preventive maintenance/repair calls for VA-owned autotransfusion equipment and maintain records.
Maintain supply readiness (minimum sets required on-hand per PWS) and produce case records (surgical time, volume autotransfused, etc.).
Document as required; comply with VA privacy/security and infection control requirements.
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications (contract-traceable)
· Certification as an Autotransfusionist (must maintain continuing education to keep cert current; annual proof required).
· Full and unrestricted license if applicable to the services covered (PWS requires full/unrestricted licenses for key personnel).
· English fluency (speak/read/write).
· Able to complete VA credentialing/privileging (as required) and comply with facility bylaws/rules.
