Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT)
Contract Type: Full-Time | On-Site | 12-Month Federal Contract
Shifts: Rotating Day, Evening, Overnight & Weekends (No Holidays or OT)
Start Date: January 2026 (Subject to VA onboarding timeline)

🎯 What You’ll Do
You're not just “taking X-rays.” You're capturing the images that guide real-time decisions in Veteran care. In this role, you’ll work side by side with physicians, surgeons, and nursing teams across general radiography, OR, portable, and fluoroscopic imaging. Your work fuels accurate diagnosis, surgical readiness, and care planning at the federal level.
White River Junction VA Medical Center (WRJ VAMC), Vermont
- Operate imaging equipment for routine and advanced diagnostic procedures, including general radiography, fluoroscopy, OR imaging, and mobile X-rays
- Accurately position patients and adjust technical settings for optimal image quality
- Maintain imaging logs, submit series to radiologists, and ensure image integrity
- Follow VA and radiology department protocols, including radiation safety procedures
- Work collaboratively with radiology staff, nurses, and providers in a high-acuity setting
- Navigate flexible shift assignments that may include overnight or weekend coverage
- ARRT (R) certification – must be current and active
- AHA BLS Certification – current and valid
- 2+ years of recent full-time experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
- Demonstrated ability to perform in multiple radiologic environments, including OR, portable, and fluoroscopy
- Strong understanding of anatomy, pathology, positioning, and safety practices
- Able to work independently in a high-volume clinical environment
- Must pass a VA background check, fingerprinting, and occupational health screenings
- Prior service in a VA, DoD, or federal healthcare system
- Familiarity with VistA, CPRS, and PACS image archiving
- Experience in teaching hospitals or multi-specialty medical centers
- Comfortable rotating across 12-hour shifts and weekend rotations

- Completion of VA-required training:VA 10176 – Privacy & Information Security Awareness
VA 10203 – HIPAA Training - Proof of immunizations and screenings, including:MMR, Varicella, Hep B, TB Test, and Annual Flu Shot
