Journeyman Pipefitters

We are seeking Journeyman Pipefitters to support facility operations at the Dallas VA Medical Center. This is an onsite VA facilities support role performing installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of plumbing, steam, gas, and medical facility systems, including water distribution, drainage, sterilizers, laundry and dietetic equipment, steam systems, and medical gases.
Position Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of plumbing, steam, gas, and medical facility systems, including water distribution, drainage, sterilizers, laundry and dietetic equipment, steam systems, and medical gases operate, inspect, repair, and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems
- Performs pipefitting/plumbing trade methods and techniques.
- Work independently with minimal oversight and supervise helpers when needed
- Read and interpret blueprints and follow standard codes and safety practices
- Coordinate daily work assignments with VA personnel and report progress to the COR
- Complete daily service logs, timecards, and work documentation
- Work both indoors and outdoors in a hospital facility environment

Required Qualifications
- Active Texas state plumbers/pipefitters license
- Minimum 4 years of trade experience as a journeyman-level pipefitter
- Current OSHA certifications applicable to pipefitting, hot‑work, hazardous environments, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read blueprints and following standard codes and safety practices
- Experience maintaining and repairing a wide range on plumbing, steam, gas, and medical facility systems including water distribution, drainage, sterilizers, laundry and dietetic equipment, steam systems, and medical gases.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work safely in a hospital facility environment
- Ability to perform duties both indoors and outdoors, including in basements, kitchens, and manholes.
- Ability to complete VA-required privacy, information security, and rules-of-behavior training
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospital, healthcare, or critical infrastructure environments
- Demonstrated capability to support complex medical facility infrastructure, including steam systems, hightemperature equipment, medical gas piping, and hospital plumbing systems.
- Experience performing troubleshooting, repairs, codecompliant installations, and preventive maintenance across indoor and outdoor environments, including confined spaces such as basements, manholes, mechanical rooms, and kitchens.
- Safety practices, hazard mitigation, and proper handling of highrisk tasks such as hotwork, pressurized systems, potential contamination sources, and electrical exposure.
- NFPA 99, OSHA, Joint Commission, and VA safety expectations
- Working safely in confined, cramped, loud, hot, or high-risk mechanical spaces
