Medical Records Technician – Release of Information (ROI)
Clearance Required: VA background investigation, OIG screening

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CT
Every Veteran has a story — and you protect how it's told. As a Release of Information (ROI) Technician, you’ll be the front line between the health record and the outside world. You’ll verify requests, protect sensitive details, and ensure disclosures are accurate, timely, and fully compliant with VA, HIPAA, and federal law.
Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS), Temple, TX
- Review and process requests for Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Vet authorizations, subpoenas, and legal documents for compliance
- Apply HIPAA, Privacy Act, and VHA Directive 1605 standards
- Retrieve records using CPRS, VistA, VistA Imaging, eROI Plus
- Categorize and process requests: legal, insurance, continuity of care, internal
- Log, track, and document every disclosure with >95% accuracy and timeliness
- Communicate professionally with Veterans, families, providers, attorneys, and payers
- Participate in privacy audits, QA reviews, and improvement projects
