Junior Capture Manager

We are seeking a Junior Capture Manager to support the identification, qualification, and capture of federal opportunities, with a focus on Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role contributes to capture efforts from early-stage opportunity shaping through transition to proposal.
The ideal candidate brings proven, hands-on application of Shipley capture methodology, experience operating within large federal contractors, and an active network within DoD agencies. This individual should be capable of leading discrete capture activities and contributing meaningfully to win strategy development and execution.
Position Responsibilities
- Support and contribute to capture strategy development for targeted federal (primarily DoD) opportunities
- Apply Shipley-based capture practices to qualify opportunities and shape win strategies
- Conduct market, customer, and competitor research to inform positioning and capture planning
- Lead or support Black Hat sessions, competitive assessments, and solutioning efforts
- Develop and refine Probability of Win (PWin), win themes, and discriminators aligned to customer priorities
- Coordinate cross-functional capture activities (BD, solutioning, pricing, recruiting, contracts, proposals)
- Track milestones, actions, and decision points to maintain capture progress
- Prepare materials and support leadership briefings and gate reviews
- Engage with customers through meetings, industry days, and pre-RFP shaping activities
- Support teaming strategy, partner identification, and relationship management
- Contribute to proposal development, including writing/reviewing sections and supporting capture-to-proposal transition
- Maintain pipeline data and reporting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in federal contracting
- Active Secret security clearance
- 3+ years of experience supporting or contributing to DoD capture efforts
- Experience working within a large federal contractor or supporting large, complex pursuits
- Demonstrated, hands-on application of Shipley capture methodology in a capture environment
- Experience supporting or leading Black Hat sessions, solutioning, and PWin development
- Proposal development experience, including direct writing contributions
- Ability to clearly articulate capture contributions and outcomes on specific pursuits (wins/losses)
- Established or developing network within DoD agencies, the IC and other customer communities
- Working knowledge of the federal acquisition lifecycle and capture processes
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must maintain required security clearance
- Occasional travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading discrete capture activities (e.g., Black Hat, solutioning workshops, customer calls)
- Experience supporting DoD agencies, military branches, or national security customers
- Prior military experience
- Prior work or capture experience with DOD or the Intelligence Community
- Experience transitioning from large business to small/growth-stage GovCon environments
- Exposure to proposal management processes and color team reviews
- Experience with CRM or pipeline management tools
- Familiarity with teaming strategies and partner coordination
