Position Responsibilities
•Perform general painting for new construction, remodel projects, renovations, and facility redecoration
•Paint and redecorate offices, wards, corridors, dining halls, living quarters, shop buildings, and other hospital areas
•Paint and refinish furniture, wood, and metal surfaces, including desks, cabinets, chairs, operating room equipment, and laundry equipment
•Prepare surfaces using spackling, joint compound, filling, shaping, sanding, and pre-coating agents
•Prepare coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing additives
•Install vinyl wall coverings and hang wallpaper
•Tape and bed walls and surfaces as required
•Perform glazing, window caulking, glass cutting, and glass installation
•Cut stencils, paint signs, blend and mix colors
•Assist with street marking and related facility painting tasks
•Clean, maintain, and care for painting equipment
•Coordinate with interior design staff on wall coverings and paint color selections when required
Schedule
•Monday–Friday
•Normal business hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
•Federal holidays excluded
•Full-time onsite coverage
•80 hours per pay period per Painter
•Alternative schedules may be used if mutually agreed between the Government and contractor
•Overtime is as-needed only and must be approved in advance through the required contract process before work is performed
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on painting experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, government, or facilities environments
- Current OSHA certification
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience with interior and exterior painting, surface prep, coating application, refinishing, and wall coverings
- Ability to mix, match, tint, and apply coating materials
- Ability to use painting tools, equipment, ladders, and related safety equipment appropriately
- Ability to follow daily work assignments from VA personnel and coordinate with the COR
- Ability to complete daily service logs and timecards
- Ability to comply with VA facility safety, privacy, information security, and rules-of-behavior training requirements
Preferred Qualifications
•Hospital, healthcare, government, or large institutional facilities
•Painting in occupied facilities with patient, staff, and public traffic
•Remodel, renovation, and redecoration work
•Furniture refinishing
•Vinyl wall coverings and wallpaper installation
•Drywall taping, bedding, patching, spackling, and joint compound
•Glazing, caulking, and glass installation
•Sign painting, stencil work, and street marking
•Working safely around equipment, sensitive areas, and controlled-access spaces
