Sunni Arabic Cultural Advisor (CULAD)
Position Responsibilities
· Provide language, interpretation, translation, and cultural advisory support to U.S. Government stakeholders and military leadership.
· Advise senior leaders on local social, cultural, ethnic, religious, tribal, linguistic, and political dynamics within the assigned area of interest.
· Support partner-force communications, senior engagements, Key Leader Engagements (KLEs), embassy coordination, and special operations advisory support.
· Translate and interpret complex information accurately between English and the required target language or dialect while maintaining operational discretion.
· Provide insight on regional atmospherics, geopolitical issues, conflict dynamics, local norms, and communication risks that may affect planning and execution.
· Support approved intra-theater travel and provide required productivity inputs, travel coordination, monthly reporting, and trip reports when applicable.
Required Qualifications
· Active TS/SCI clearance required. Candidates must be eligible to perform immediately on a classified U.S. Government contract upon selection and approval.
· U.S. Citizenship required due to clearance and contract requirements.
· Professional proficiency in English and the applicable target language or dialect: Kurdish, Arabic/Modern Standard Arabic, or Sunni Arabic.
· Regional cultural, political, social, and linguistic expertise related to Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the Levant, Gulf region, and/or the broader CENTCOM AOR.
· Experience providing cultural advisory, linguistic, interpreter, translator, partner-force, embassy, special operations, intelligence-support, or deployed mission support.
· Ability to work on site in hazardous duty OCONUS locations. Remote work is not authorized.
· Ability to meet host-nation work visa requirements and deployment processing timelines.
· Valid U.S. passport with at least one year of validity beyond the expected period of stay and at least two blank pages.
· Ability to complete CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) processing at Fort Bliss, TX before deployment.
· Strong judgment, discretion, professionalism, written communication, and verbal briefing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior support to USSOCCENT, CENTCOM, Special Operations Forces, CSOJTF, SOAG, U.S. Embassy teams, or partner-force engagements.
· Prior experience as a Cultural Advisor, linguist, interpreter, translator, regional advisor, military advisor, or deployed contractor.
· Experience supporting General Officer engagements, senior staff briefings, KLEs, or partner-nation security cooperation activities.
· Familiarity with MISO, Information Operations, Civil Affairs, PSYOP, irregular warfare, or regional security cooperation planning.
· Documented language proficiency, such as DLPT, OPI, ILR score, or another validated language assessment.
