Certified Autotransfusionist (ICSP Staff Augmentation – VA)
This role provides onsite autotransfusion services supporting VA surgical teams during non-open-heart procedures. The Autotransfusionist ensures proper setup, operation, documentation, and maintenance of autotransfusion equipment in direct support of Veteran surgical care.

What You’ll Do
•Provide onsite autotransfusion services for scheduled surgical procedures
•Set up, operate, and break down autotransfusion (cell saver) equipment
•Monitor OR schedules and coordinate autotransfusion support accordingly
•Maintain records of surgical procedures, blood volumes processed, and transfused
•Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for VA-owned autotransfusion equipment
•Ensure availability of required supplies and disposable sets for procedures
•Document procedures and transfusion data in accordance with VA standards
•Support compliance with infection control, safety, and documentation requirements
•Participate in VA quality assurance, safety reporting, and mandatory training
•Coordinate closely with surgical, anesthesia, and perfusion teams
Minimum Qualifications (Contract-Required)
•Certified Autotransfusionist (current certification required)
•Minimum 10 years of experience as an Autotransfusionist
•Current, full, unrestricted certification (U.S.)
•All required continuing education maintained and current
•Ability to pass VA credentialing, background investigation, and health screenings
•Ability to work onsite in a clinical surgical environment
